Join us for a “Day on the Creek”

A unique outdoor learning experience for students, parents, teachers and the general public to learn more about the environment and human history along Pincher Creek and the importance of watershed stewardship.  Everyone is welcome to attend for all or part of the day !

DATE: Wednesday May 24th, 2017

TIME: 9am to 3pm

Place:  Along the creek path all the way from the Recreation Centre to the Ag Grounds.  See map for full details.

What to bring: This event will run rain or shine so DRESS FOR THE WEATHER.  Bring your own water and snacks for a picnic along the creek.

Hosted by the Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association (WBRA), Alberta Parks, Town of Pincher Creek, and Livingstone Range School Division as part of the Pincher Outdoor Education Movement (POEM) with support from:

Learn and discover:  

  • Traditional First Nations knowledge, history, and connections to our environment
  • Native plants and animals that live along Pincher Creek
  • Riparian and aquatic ecosystems and how to monitor their health
  • Human impact and responsibility for our environment
  • How our watershed works
  • Ways to steward our creek and keep it healthy
  • Local archaeology and history about Pincher Creek

Various class presentations and open demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day at different learning stations along the creek.
