Wetland Education Field Day

WBR - Wetlands Field Day Interim Report 31oct14 ALL rdc

Grade 5 students heading off for a Wetland Field Day project.

Each September since 2012, the Waterton Biosphere Reserve has hosted a Wetland Field Day for students from Cardston Elementary School. Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association (WBRA) formed a unique partnership with the school, local landowners, and Alberta Parks to deliver a curriculum-linked experiential learning opportunity for grade 5 students. 100 students spend a day each fall exploring wetlands and associated grassland habitat at Police Outpost Provincial Park and learning about land stewardship in the park and the ranchlands surrounding the park. Last year’s event was a huge success and plans have already been made for the sixth annual Wetland Field Day to be held in September, 2017.
