Wetland Education Field Day

Grade 5 students heading off for a Wetland Field Day project.
Each September since 2012, the Waterton Biosphere Region has hosted a Wetland Field Day for students from Cardston Elementary School. The Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association (WBRA) formed a unique partnership with the school, local landowners, and Alberta Environment and Parks to deliver a curriculum-linked experiential learning opportunity for grade 5 students. One hundred students spend a day each fall exploring wetlands and associated grassland habitat at Police Outpost Provincial Park. Through various activities they learn about land stewardship in the park and the surrounding ranchlands.
