Wetland Education Field Day
Each September since 2012, the Waterton Biosphere Reserve has hosted a Wetland Field Day for students from Cardston Elementary School. Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association (WBRA) formed a unique partnership with the school, local landowners, and Alberta Environment and Parks to deliver a curriculum-linked experiential learning opportunity for grade 5 students. 100 students spend a day each fall exploring wetlands and associated grassland habitat at Police Outpost Provincial Park. Through various activities they learn about land stewardship in the park and the surrounding ranchlands . Last year’s event was a huge success and we look forward to the eighth annual Wetland Field Day to be held in September 2019.
